There are 8 small, carpal bones that meet the radius and fibula to make up the wrist. The scaphoid is one of these carpal bones and is located at the base of the thumb.
What causes a scaphoid fracture?
After a fall with an outstretched hand, this bone can become fractured, causing pain at the thumb, especially while pinching or grasping.
