Herniated Discs
In between each vertebrae of the spine there is an intervertebral disc. These discs are often likened to a jelly donut because they have a tough yet squishy exterior and are filled with a jelly-like substance. When this exterior gets torn, the jelly-like fluid leaks out and irritates the surrounding nerves, which leads to pain, numbness, or weakness. An intervertebral disc can tear for a number of reasons; the most common is degeneration of the exterior over time. Sudden twists or other sharp movements can also cause injury to a disc. It can be diagnosed as a ruptured disc, slipped disc, or herniated disc but all terms refer to this same condition. BioSkin Back Braces use vectored, targeted compression to relieve the pressure on the low back. This helps to diminish the irritation to the surrounding nerves which will alleviate pain, numbness, and weakness felt throughout the body.
